Our flock of Shetland sheep are grass fed on herbal ley fields. They provide us with an annual clip of fine, soft wool. The wool is then processed at the Natural Fibre Company in Cormwall. I use the yarn to crochet handmade accessories in the natural colours of the sheep.
Our small 80 acre farm has now become a farm for wildlife and we grow a variety of clover mixes, winter bird foods and wild flowers. As well as our own small flock, we provide grazing for a local shepherd who produces grass fed lamb and mutton meat boxes for local farmers markets. The sheep get a very healthy diet with lots of variety and natural minerals. They help to maintain the herbal and clover leys that provide nectar for pollinators and seeds for farmland birds.
